isn't she pretty?

(Im)pertinent info: Megan Driscoll. Female. Circa 1984. Urban NW. megan at synthetique dot org.

(Mis)education: Graduated from Reed College in May 2006 with a BA in Art History. Wrote my thesis on art and pornography in the American 80s & 90s (see: Cindy Sherman, Jeff Koons, Robert Mapplethorpe), focusing my argument on Richard Kern. Starting the Museology program at the UW in Fall 2008.

ArtPorn(Art): If you're interested in perusing the above thesis, email me and I'll send you the URL/pwd. The cloak-and-dagger routine is to protect copyrighted figures and my academic behind.

Occupational Hazard(s): In November 2006 I started putting in my office hours as web designer for Spartacus Enterprises, and in May 2007 I became the stylish new art news girl for PORT. I also worked part time as the manager of Portland's Sugar Gallery, and dabble in hobby photography as Nox Photography and web design as Synthetic Designs. Until the magazine closed, I also wrote freelance art criticism for Visual Codec. When I grow up, I want to work in art commerce... Direct a museum... Or maybe guest-curate at Documenta.

Tech(nical): Launched in December 2006. Computing- I'm on a Mac, I hand code this mess, and for once I don't have to care if it looks good in IE. Pictured- my demand for instant gratification has led me to my beloved Digital Rebel, and I shot that selfish little pose to your upper left.

The purpose of art is to lay bare the questions which have been hidden by the answers. -James Baldwin
